The Colorado Alliance is pleased to announce a new version of Gold Rush Decision Support (formerly Gold Rush Reports) which allows libraries to compare the journal content within databases.  Some of the features of the system include:

  • The ability to compare one-to-one, one-to-many or many-to-many databases all in the same simple interface
  • The results are supplied super fast in real time.
  • Comparative bar charts provide quick comparison of sets but users can drill down to specifics as needed
  • Full results can be emailed on demand

Gold Rush Decision Support has many uses to help librarians make better decisions.  Some interesting use cases include:

  • Compare databases to determine if a new product should be acquired or if something needs to be cancelled
  • Since Gold Rush retains both full-text as well as indexed-only titles it is possible to compare indexing/abstracting databases (e.g. Scopus versus Web of Science)
  • The system has title lists for JSTOR, Portico and other archiving projects.  Libraries can compare journal packages or even their own collections to make better decisions about storage or deselection
