Colorado Alliance & Elsevier Negotiations

The Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries (Alliance) has initiated a new round of contract negotiations with Elsevier for its academic members in Colorado and Wyoming.  Using a common set of principles to think creatively about access to faculty publications and the sustainability of journal subscriptions, the consortium has engaged Dr. Jeffrey Spies as the lead in this round of contract negotiations. Although the Alliance has had a series of multi-year consortial Elsevier contracts since 2005, this 2023 round of discussions will hopefully provide an improved and sustainable model for reading and publishing for its member libraries.  Some of our goals include improved access to scholarship, provide greater control over publishing faculty content, and finding a pricing model that is sustainable for strained library budgets in the consortium.
