| PRESS RELEASE Denver, CO, August 22, 2005 |
THE CENTER FOR RESEARCH LIBRARIES JOINS PROSPECTOR
The Center for Research Libraries (http://www.crl.edu) has been added to the Prospector system during the summer of 2005. Only libraries that have established relationships with CRL can borrow their materials. This means you must have a library card from CU/Boulder, Colorado State University, University of Denver or Colorado College. CRL is unique in Prospector as it is only a lending library and no patrons from CRL will be borrowing from Prospector libraries. Once a patron requests an item, the material will be shipped to that library where it can be picked-up just like any other Prospector request. CRL materials may be checked out for six months through Prospector, enabling local researchers to use these specialized materials for much longer than the traditional 3-week loan period in Prospector. CRL is located in the Chicago area and is a consortium of North American universities, colleges, and independent research libraries. Its primary purpose is to acquire unique material not held anywhere else in North America. The consortium acquires and preserves traditional and digital resources for research and teaching and makes them available to member institutions through interlibrary loan and electronic delivery. The CenterŐs mission is to support advanced research and teaching in the humanities, sciences and social sciences by ensuring the survival and availability of the knowledge resources vital to these disciplines. The Center accomplishes this mission through cooperative action with its members and partners. CRL has contributed almost 1 million new bibliographic records to Prospector and over 94% of these records are unique in the system. To borrow CRL materials a library must either be a member or associate member of the Center (currently this includes CU/Boulder, CSU, DU and Colorado College). If you find a CRL item in Prospector and your library is not currently a member of CRL, please contact the interlibrary loan (ILL) department in your local library as there may be other ways that the item can be borrowed. For more information please contact George Machovec in the Alliance office (george@coalliance.org). For more information contact your local library or: George Machovec |
