University of Wyoming Joins Prospector
The Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries is pleased to
announce that the University of Wyoming Libraries and the American Heritage
Center have been added to
the Prospector union catalog. This is the largest library in the state of
Wyoming and includes Coe Library (the main
library), the Brinkerhoff Geology Library, the Rocky Mountain Herbarium Library
and the American Heritage Center. Although UW activated in Prospector several
months ago, the official launch of their participation began with ceremonies on
their campus today.
The University
of Wyoming brings rich
collections which support its seven colleges: Agriculture, Arts and Sciences,
Business, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Law. The University of Wyoming
is the only provider of baccalaureate and graduate education in a state of some
one-half million people and 98,000 square miles. UW opened on September 6, 1887, with one
building, five professors, two tutors, and 42 students, who studied philosophy,
arts, literature, and sciences. Today, we provide our 13,000 students more than
180 programs of study at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels;
an outstanding faculty; and world-class research facilities—all set against the
idyllic backdrop of southeastern Wyoming’s
rugged mountains and high plains.
The American
Heritage Center
is UW’s archives, rare books and manuscripts repository. It includes a rich collection of Wyoming and western
history materials, many of which are not found elsewhere. The cataloged collections of the AHC may be
found in Prospector and collections viewed on site in Laramie.
