About Prospector PDF Print E-mail

Prospector is a unified catalog of 25 academic, public and special libraries in Colorado and Wyoming. It facilitates lending and borrowing of library materials among libraries. The inception of the project began in 1996 when The Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries and the University of Northern Colorado submitted a joint grant proposal to the state Technical Learning Committee to create a regional union catalog. The grant which was funded at $640,000, covered the initial start up costs of building a union catalog. Prospector went live with the first 12 libraries in July/August 1999. Over the last six years Prospector has doubled in size and includes a CARL and two Ex Libris library systems.
