Present: Jim Farmer, Kathy Zipp, Anne Harmon, Brice Austin, Jan Tankersley, (via conference call), Alice McKinney (conference call), Ev Jamerino, Franca Rosen, Nancy Sensel, Geoff Douglas, Clark Driese and George Machovec.
1. George's news: George distributed statistics that will also be in Datalink (http://www.coalliance.org/datalink). Use is increasing rapidly. George has had some discussion with Brenda Bailey at the State Library re: Prospector/ACLIN. George noted Internet problems in the office with a Qwest problem. Mostly affected JeffCo requests because items may have appeared available yet were checked out before transactions could push through. Brief discussion on some DPL hung and lost transactions. Please report these so they can be addressed…they do come up. George noted to watch the Cat/Ref group's work on netLibrary and attempts to load records from N.L. direct. On May 16 there will be a Portal showcase at DPL in their lower level.
2. George and Jim will meet in May to discuss parameters for new loan rules [UPDATE: this happened June 6].
3. CSU requested info on how we are doing. Everyone responded positively. Jim also asked how many staff are devoted to Prospector at other sites and how many times per day they perform paging: UNC twice per day; all staff share in the paging; DU LAW Nancy works it into her schedule; CU 2 FTE staff and students--also Reserve helps when their workflow settles; DU 1 part time person dedicated, 2 fulltime at night--probably 6 hours per day total.
4. Jan reviewed an issue that Ann Rakes has replied to. A book comes in with one paging slip but item is attached to someone else's name. When you check the book in, the new person's name comes up on the screen. [Jan, check my logic on this, I was writing as fast as I could to get what you said]. There was a bug in the software, but continue to report if you see this happen.
5. Franca and Lori's test (cancel re-request with other books available at DPL but no where else) resulted in a full cancel…it did not try another DPL branch. ACTION ITEM: The reverse will be tried net time where DPL requests from JCPL. Brice will also work with Franca on the testing.
6. Some discussion on DPL cancellation where item still shows Prospector Requested in Central. This is a batch program--it is a 6-hour continuous cycle. Sometimes this may be longer due to authority control addition to the CARL system.
7. Anne noted that the Lab School at UNC is closing. K-12 Records are suppressed for now. Most will be available again after July 1.
8. Group prioritized the enhancements list for IUG. The principle to be used when voting at IUG will be that functionality is more important than statistics or reports.
9. PASCAL: Brice gave an update, but more next meeting
10. No discussion on previously distributed reports procedures.
Adjourned.
