Prospector Summary Statistics

In December 1996, The Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries and the University of Northern Colorado submitted a joint grant proposal to create a regional union catalog for many of the major academic and public libraries in the region using a central server. The project allows users to view library holdings and circulation information with a single query of the global database. The union catalog also allows patrons to request items from any of the participating libraries and have them delivered to a nearby local library. The Colorado Union Catalog includes both Innovative Interfaces (III), Endeavor Information Systems and CARL libraries in a single union catalog. The $640,000 has been approved by the state Technical Learning Committee and the Governor. The funding comes through the Technology Grant and Revolving Loan Program. The first 12 libraries were released to the public in July and August 1999.

As of January 2003, Prospector includes 14 libraries. Four additional libraries are planned for inclusion in the system in 2003 (see below).
