OXFORD SCHOLARSHIP ONLINE AVAILABLE

OXFORD SCHOLARSHIP ONLINE AVAILABLE TO PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE LIBRARIES

The Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries is pleased to announce the start of a pilot project which will provide access to the material in Oxford Scholarship Online.  Nine member libraries of the Colorado Alliance are purchasing this material.

As part of the contract negotiated with Oxford University Press by the Colorado Alliance, public and community college libraries in Colorado and Wyoming will also be able to access this collection, at no cost to those libraries.  The costs are borne by the participating Alliance libraries.  If you are interested in gaining access to this material for your library, you must contact Oxford directly.  Note that this is access only, not ownership, for the public and community college libraries which wish to participate in this opportunity.  To participate:

  • Public and Community  College libraries in Colorado, please contact:

      • Provide the name and contact information of a person at your library who will work with Oxford on the setup and maintenance, and will receive notices concerning OSO.
      • Inform OUP if you want to set up a username and password.

The pilot project began in September 2012 and will last until August 2013, at which time it will be evaluated and a decision made as to continuation of the project.  If the project is continued, public and community college libraries will continue to be able to gain access.  Oxford will load titles three times a year, in September, January, and May; the September title load of 334 titles is now available.  During the project, participating libraries will load these bibliographic records of titles published in Oxford Scholarship Online into their local catalogs.  The records will also be available in Prospector.

Oxford Scholarship Online is a collection of academic monographs in 20 subject areas encompassing social sciences, sciences, humanities, medicine, and law.  You can see a list of titles currently available on the OSO platform at http://www.oxfordscholarship.com/page/171/title-lists.  Please note that this list is of current titles only, not the forthcoming titles that will be available during the pilot project, but it does represent the type of titles available.

If you have questions concerning participation in this offer, please contact Terry Leopold at the Colorado Alliance (terry@coalliance.org; 303.759.3399, ext 111).
